Overview
About Urogynaecology & Pelvic Floor Health
Bladder and pelvic floor problems are very common, especially after childbirth and around menopause, yet many women feel embarrassed to talk about them. You do not need to be. These conditions are medical, not personal failings, and there is a lot that can help.
Treatment usually starts simply, with pelvic floor exercises, bladder training and lifestyle changes, and progresses to medication, pessaries or surgery only if needed.
Conditions & procedures
Urinary incontinence
Leaking urine when coughing, sneezing or exercising, or with a sudden urge to go.
Pelvic organ prolapse
A feeling of heaviness or a bulge in the vagina when the pelvic organs drop.
Overactive bladder
Needing to pass urine urgently or frequently, including during the night.
Chronic bladder pain
Ongoing bladder or pelvic discomfort, sometimes called interstitial cystitis.
Recurrent urinary tract infections
Investigation and prevention for women who have repeated bladder infections.
