Biography
Specialist Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
Dr Malonda Makanda is a specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Dr Makanda qualified in medicine (MBChB) at the University of Kinshasa, then completed specialist training in South Africa, earning the Fellowship of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists through the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa and a Master of Medicine (MMed) degree from the University of Cape Town.
Today Dr Makanda runs a private practice from Suite 110 at Melomed Private Hospital, Mitchells Plain. The practice cares for women through pregnancy and birth, including high-risk and twin pregnancies, and for gynaecological conditions that need specialist assessment or surgery, including laparoscopic (keyhole) and hysteroscopic procedures. Fertility, preventive screening and pelvic floor health are also part of everyday care.
Because the consulting rooms are inside the hospital, deliveries, theatre and inpatient care are close at hand. Whatever brings you in, consultations are unhurried: your concerns are heard, your options are explained in plain language, and decisions about your care are made together.
